What’s On Trend With Carpet Flooring?

Carpet flooring has become extremely trendy over the last two years or so. As such, you might want to consider investing in some new carpet now instead of later. What types of carpets are on trend? What kind of things should you look out for before buying a carpet tile?

A huge range of carpeting is becoming increasingly popular due to its affordability and durability. But purchasing quality carpet flooring is much easier said than done.

In addition to getting the right size and colour, you also need to ensure they won’t fade or wear out. If you don’t know how to spot good quality materials, then you may wind up wasting your time and money.

A well-made product will always stand out from less reliable ones. This applies to carpets too. There are several ways to tell what makes a great carpet, starting with the material itself. Then there are the style, design, and colours.

Lastly, there’s the overall craftsmanship. Some companies offer a lifetime guarantee on their products.

Investigate these points before making your purchase.

Material

The most important thing about any type of floor coverings is the material it uses. The best quality flooring will be made from high-density fibreboard (HDF), which comes in three forms: HDF board, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and medium-density polyethylene.

These all provide superior strength and resistance to damage when compared to other common products like linoleum and vinyl. They can also resist moisture better than traditional hardwood floors.

  • HDF boards come in both long-lasting and short-term versions. The former is usually thicker, while the latter is thinner but lasts longer. Long-term HDF boards are generally more expensive though.

  • HDPE is often used as a backing for carpets because of its ability to repel dirt and water. It offers excellent protection against stains, spills, and odours.

Its thinness means that it can be easily cleaned and maintained. Although not particularly durable, it provides a softer feel than regular carpets.

  • Medium-density PE is the cheapest option available today. However, it is still very strong and is easy to clean and maintain. You can use this material in place of other types of carpet without having to worry about losing strength.

Style

Once you have chosen the correct type of material for your room, you can start looking at different styles. Some people prefer carpet tiles, while others love rugs. Whatever you choose, it needs to match the rest of your decor.

For example, if you have a dark living room, you probably would not want to put a light-coloured carpet in your space.

Colour

You also need to pick the right colours for your home. Do not go overboard, however. Choosing pastels is one way to make an area appear bigger. Darker colours make rooms seem smaller. Also, avoid choosing patterns that resemble wallpaper. A patterned rug does not work well in a small space.

Design

When picking a style and colour combination, consider whether you want the flooring to look modern or classic. Modern designs tend towards bolder colours and geometric shapes, while classic designs feature softer tones and textures.

Craftsmanship

Finally, you should look for quality in a company’s construction methods. Many manufacturers do not adhere to strict standards when manufacturing their products overseas.

When they ship them to your house, they may arrive damaged, dirty, or even unfinished. If possible, buy locally. If you cannot find local manufacturers, try buying online instead.

Carpet Types

Vinyl flooring comes in many forms. From vinyl plank floors to vinyl tile, there really isn’t anything that you cannot get with this type of flooring. One benefit of vinyl is that it doesn’t require much maintenance once installed. This makes it ideal for those who don’t want to spend too much time cleaning their floors.

Carpet Vinyl is an adhesive-backed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) flooring material that can be used for walls, ceilings, furniture upholstery, floor coverings and many other applications.

Vinyl planks are extremely popular today. They offer great value and durability, making them perfect for most homes. Moreover, they are resistant to moisture, heat, wear and tear, and scratches.

In addition, vinyl planks can be cut and shaped using just basic tools like scissors and a knife. They are easy to install since they are glued to substrates such as wood, plywood, concrete, timber flooring etc. However, vinyl planks must be sealed properly after installation.

Supply and Installation

You've chosen to install carpet in your home rather than tiles or vinyl flooring because they look better and last much longer.

However, installing carpet flooring is tricky. Carpet requires professional expertise, tools, time and effort. What do you really need to get started?

Carpet is also known to trap dirt, dust mites, allergens and bacteria. This means that carpets present health risks that should always be considered before purchasing them.

There are two types of floors: indoor and outdoor. Indoor carpets should be installed over concrete, wood, tile or other resilient surfaces such as linoleum. Outdoor carpets should be placed directly onto soil, sand or gravel.

The surface beneath the carpet will determine how long it lasts. Therefore, if the ground underneath is compacted or contains sharp objects, the chances of damage increase.

The best quality carpets last 15 to 25 years but some high-end carpets can last more than 40 years!
