The app was recognised for outstanding design and innovation by the annual Good Design Awards.

The Bricks Visualiser app, commissioned by PGH Bricks & Pavers, and designed by Luminary, has won the Award for the Digital Web Design and Development category of the 2020 Good Design Awards.

The PGH Bricks Visualiser, a web app that features realistic 3D rendering with an option to view in virtual reality mode, was designed to help new home builders visualise and customise the bricks for their home.

“Embarking on a new home build can be incredibly exciting but also can be daunting when it comes to making decisions on façade colours, textures and bringing all of the design elements and building materials in the full façade design together. Home owners often have to make fast decisions at the selection stage of the process and it is not uncommon for husband and wife teams to discover at the last minute that their tastes differ,” says Jai Sanderson, General Manager Marketing for PGH Bricks & Pavers at CSR Limited.

Using virtual reality, users can view different brick options for their home.

Given COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, virtual visualisation options have never been more prevalent. The visualiser, found at www.pghbricks.com.au is playing an important role in the residential home builder’s journey.

“The tool is easy to use, can be shared with family and friends and can be used to speed up the process when engaging with a colour consultant,” says Ms Sanderson.

The app was recognised for outstanding design and innovation by the annual Good Design Awards, Australia’s longest-running design awards program.

More than 55 Good Design Awards jurors evaluated each entry according to a strict set of design criteria which covers ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ and ‘design impact’.

The app allows builders and homeowners to view different brick option for their projects.

The Good Design Awards jury praised PGH Bricks’ Visualiser, commenting:

“A clever use of technology to help users visualise bricks and finishes on various homes, the app has had a demonstrable impact since launch, driving user engagement. Neat and intuitive navigation, stunning visuals, confident typography, and great that it can all seamlessly run in the browser. This is a useful complement to the sales process and will have significant impact on user-engagement and overall sales. A really compelling and interesting way to browse the multitude of options available right down to mortar colour – and it works a dream on a tablet!”
