Entries open and judges announced for the 38th Dulux Colour Awards

30 January 2024

Entries are now open for the 38th Dulux Colour Awards, inviting architects, interior designers, specifiers and students from Australia and New Zealand to submit projects that demonstrate a pioneering, strategic and commendable use of Dulux Colour across exterior and interior residential, public and commercial spaces.

Additionally, for the first time, there will be a new category, ‘Temporary or Installation Design’.

Dulux colour and communications manager Andrea Lucena-Orr says the annual awards program provides an opportunity to draw focus on colour in design, inspire industry-wide colour ambition in built environments and recognise emerging and established design talent.

“The Dulux Colour Awards celebrates the creativity of design practitioners who use colour to transform spaces. In 2024, we’re excited to further this celebration of colour with the introduction of the new category which aims to showcase the use of paint finishes in temporary, installation, exhibition and brand promotional experiences,” says Lucena-Orr.

“The level of sophistication and constraint exercised by architects and designers never fails to impress our panel and we look forward to seeing how the judges appraise this year’s entrants.”

Five of Australia and New Zealand’s most prolific architects and designers, who have been recognised and awarded for their work, will judge the 2024 awards entrants based on innovation, expression and execution of colour.

This year’s panel includes Carter Williamson founder Shaun Carter, WOWOWA Architecture co-founder Monique Woodward, Pac Studio director Sarosh Mulla, Studio Prineas founder Eva-Marie Prineas and Technē Architecture + Interior Design co-founder Nick Travers.

Jury member Shaun Carter says he is eager to assess each of this year’s projects, including how colour has been considered within the overall design and the impact it has on those who occupy it.

Dulux encourages entries from individuals, students, groups, partnerships and those working in larger practices, no matter the scale or scope of work.
