Hi, we are building a new house and thinking of double glazed doors and windows for energy efficiency and noise control. I have also heard of laminate glass. Can I have some feedback on these glass options?
Double glazing's definitely a good choice if you can afford it. A lot of the energy that's used in a house results from trying to keep the house comfortable (i.e. warm or cool), and a lot of the heat that flows in and out of houses ends up being lost (or gained) through windows.
Laminations / window films can help to some extent too, and they're constantly improving in terms of their efficacy.
You may also want to look into low-e glass (or low-e window film options).
