Last week, the Build team visited the DesignBUILD expo to check out the latest construction innovations and architectural trends.

Now in its 32nd year, DesignBUILD brings together Australia’s architecture, design, building and construction industries to explore innovative new products, learn from renowned speakers and network with industry professionals.

This year, the expo was split into four sections – construction and building materials; landscape and outdoor; interior fixtures and finishes; and software and technology – to provide a more fluid flow for visitors.

Keynote speakers included Michael McCormack from Milieu Property Group, Robert Simeoni from Robert Simeoni Architects and Simon Knott from BKK Architects. They were joined by the town planners and design panel to discuss how the growth of Melbourne as an international city depends on a successful working relationship between developers, architects and town planners

There were also more than 300 brands displaying new products and materials at the expo. These ranged from accessible home lifts and custom print mosaic tiles to innovative fall protection solutions and two-part window systems.

It’s always a challenge to go through all the new and exciting products at an event so we’ve done the hard work for you and profiled four of our favourite products that we feel kept with the DesignBUILD 2018 tagline, ‘it’s all in the detail’.
