Hey Pearlyn - I swear I remember when most houses only had one bathroom :)

What kind of outdoor bathroom are you thinking of - an open-air resort sort of setup (like this)?

http://cdn.goodshomedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/outdoor-bathroom-designs-15.jpg

...or an extension / annex with a bathroom in it?

I think it probably depends what you want (and what you're willing to spend) - certainly worth choosing someone with some experience in building / designing this kind of thing, I'm sure outside bathrooms involve a whole different set of issues to inside bathrooms...

Maybe first put a call out on our quotes service to see if there's anyone local who specialises in this stuff:

http://www.build.com.au/get-quotes

Beyond that, maybe check out bathroom specialists in your area to see if anyone does outdoor bathrooms - they'll often have an in-house bathroom designer on the payroll. You could also track down some talented bathroom designers through the Kitchen and Bathroom Design Institute (KBDi):

http://www.kbdi.org.au/listing.php

Hi there,

I was wondering if you found out any more information about this? I would like to build a bathroom outside however I would like to have it as an enclosed room. Where do I find the information as to the size of the building I can have and how far it can/should be from my existing building.

We will be building it ourselves so would like to know what the regulations are for this. Do we even need council approval to build an outdoor toilet? It will be a composting toilet...

Many thanks in advance

Those LED shower heads are so funny: http://www.crazysales.com.au/shower-accessories/ They will add a lot fancy to the bathroom.
