The builder’s responsible for creating your house, and is where the bulk of your money's going to be spent. You're throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at them - choose wisely!

Things like experience, prior work, track record, specialisations, price, professionalism and general attitude should all play a significant part in your choice. There are plenty of great builders around, and if you’re methodical in your assessments you shouldn’t have a hard time finding one.

When you’ve found the right builder, you’ll still need to make sure that you know what you’re doing with regards to contracts, unknown sums and the finer details of what’s required. Even if everyone has the best of intentions, small issues in contracts can create big problems if they’re not given enough attention before you sign.
